Well, my dear, I am on a ship now, on the way to Singapore. I am rather nervous, as I don’t really know what to do after I get there. I was thinking of setting up a agency, to bring goods from all over the world. And then, I can sell these goods perhaps. To other merchants, that is. Many of my friends have also been coming to Singapore for that very reason. I do hope I will succeed, for I am not as experienced as others. Well, it s late, and I don’t have much time, so goodnight now.

I have a ship company with me now, and the manager even says that there will be many willing companies all over, in China, in India, Malaya, everywhere. I am quite confident this will be a success. I am so delighted that I have come so far, Singapore indeed is a better place! I can continue with my story now, I guess, since I have a lot of time on my hands. I am Richard G. Michaels, and I am 24 years old, this year. The trip on the ship was a grueling two weeks, of which I did not enjoy at all. There was no food, and what I brought was barely enough, but I fared off much better than others. There were sick and dying people, and frankly, I could not help feeling disgusted at the hygiene in the ship. But I made it here safe and sound, and I am thankful for it. Bless those sick people.

It is almost the New Year for the Chinese, and all the Chinese coolies are preparing for it in Chinatown. I have not visited it yet, but I hope to do so. It is harder to visit them, as Sir Stamford Raffles tries to separate the races. I hold a rather high respect for the Chinese; really, their history goes long and deep. I have contacted some companies, and they have agreed to work with me, they are from China. I am not sure what they will provide. I hope for silk, but I have heard hat they are not all that open, as to sell silk…ahh, I am tired, have a good night.

It has been in the middle of the Chinese New Year celebrations, and I had to let my coolies go and celebrate their fifteen days. Yes, fifteen days. Very long, isn’t it? I never knew! I haven’t been getting any replies lately, it’s frustrating. The Chinese producer will be providing tea and medicines. I’m disappointed that they decided not to give me silk in the end, but I suppose it is rather a good deal. I am short of workers, now, not as many immigrants as my friends told me. I am praying for more, as I cannot work an agency without coolies.

The place where I stay is a beautiful house, although it is small, since there is only one person living there, me. recipe:
1 whole bowlful of imagination

1/2 cup of a searching soul
1 cup of writing skills.

method:
1. pour the facts into the the bowlful of imagination
and mix, until you see it frothing.
2. pour everything else in and then heat
